Using CHAMPS for classroom management has the right idea of giving students expectations before activities begin. In math, we have to remember that students come to us with prior experiences in math and from different math expectations. A way to help with growth mindset and productive struggle is to give the expectations ahead of time, before any of the parts in upside-down teaching.
